33-year-old Deairio Loggins Killed in Union Parish Crash on Highway 15 in Bernice

FARMERVILLE, La. — A tragic morning crash in Union Parish has left a 33-year-old Bernice man dead after a violent two-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 15, a loss that has shaken family members and left investigators working to understand exactly what led to the fatal sequence of events.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, troopers responded shortly after 11:00 a.m. on May 1, 2026, to a serious crash on Highway 15 just north of Highway 549. The victim has been identified as Deairio Loggins, 33, of Bernice.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Loggins was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Authorities say the situation quickly escalated as he attempted to correct his path.

Investigators report that Loggins overcorrected while steering back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to cross both lanes of traffic and enter the northbound lane. At that moment, the Nissan moved directly into the path of an oncoming 2021 Chevrolet Blazer.

The Chevrolet struck the Nissan with significant force in the northbound lane, resulting in a severe impact. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Loggins sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Louisiana State Police confirmed that the crash remains under active investigation as troopers continue reviewing roadway conditions, vehicle movement, and all contributing factors leading up to the incident.
