John Folan Found Dead Near Chicago Executive Airport; Police Investigating Possible Hit-and-Run

WHEELING, IL — A calm Sunday morning quickly turned into a scene of concern after a man was found dead near Chicago Executive Airport, sparking an ongoing investigation by local authorities in the north suburbs.

According to the Prospect Heights Police Department, officers were dispatched just after 9:00 a.m. to the 79 East Palatine Frontage Road area following reports of an unconscious man lying along the airport’s fence line. When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive and cold to the touch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased as 68-year-old John Folan of Prospect Heights. His unexpected death has left both investigators and the local community searching for answers about what may have happened in the moments before he was found.

Preliminary information suggests that Folan may have been struck by a vehicle. However, authorities have emphasized that this remains unconfirmed, and the exact cause and manner of death are still under investigation. Officials say they are carefully examining all possible scenarios as they work to determine the truth.

Adding to the mystery, police reported that there were no witnesses at the scene when officers arrived. Investigators also did not locate any vehicles nearby that could be immediately linked to a potential crash. This lack of evidence has made it more difficult to establish a clear timeline of events.

The area was processed thoroughly as investigators collected and reviewed evidence that could help piece together what happened. At this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
