Cleveland Man Killed After Shooting Sparks Crash on Euclid Avenue

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A night drive through Cleveland turned tragic after gunfire erupted along Euclid Avenue, leaving 28-year-old Terell Owens dead and a community searching for answers. The incident, which unfolded in the 12100 block, has raised concerns as investigators work to determine what led to the deadly shooting.

According to the Cleveland Division of Police, officers responded around 8:48 p.m. on May 4 after receiving reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found officers from University Circle Police Department already at the scene, providing first aid to a man who had been shot while inside a vehicle.

Investigators say Owens was driving when he was struck by gunfire. The sudden attack caused him to lose control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a utility pole. The combination of the shooting and crash created a chaotic and devastating scene within moments.

Despite efforts by first responders to save him, Owens was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed his identity, bringing clarity to a tragedy that unfolded so quickly and left loved ones in shock.

Authorities say a woman and two juveniles were also inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. They were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries. While they survived physically, the emotional toll of witnessing such violence is expected to be lasting.

The investigation remains active, with detectives from the homicide unit working to identify suspects and determine a motive. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the community mourns the loss of Terell Owens and hopes for justice in the wake of the violence.
