Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago are investigating a violent late-night shooting in Princes Town that left a 27-year-old woman dead and a 30-year-old man critically injured. The attack, which happened shortly after midnight along Malgretoute Road, has sparked a major police investigation as officers work to determine what led to the deadly ambush.
According to early police reports, the victims were traveling in a vehicle when they were suddenly intercepted by another car. Armed individuals then exited the second vehicle and opened fire on them. The attack happened quickly, leaving little time for escape or response.
The woman has been identified as Monifer Carrie, 27, of Beetham Gardens, Port of Spain. She suffered severe gunshot injuries during the shooting. Emergency responders rushed her to the Princes Town Health Facility, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Isaiah Cruickshank, 30, also known by the alias “Touchy,” was also shot multiple times during the attack. He was initially taken to the same health facility for urgent treatment before being transferred to San Fernando General Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries. Medical officials say he remains in critical condition.
The case is now being handled by the Homicide Bureau of Investigations under the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. Investigators have launched a full probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including identifying the attackers and determining a possible motive behind the targeted assault.
