The community of Summerville, South Carolina is grieving a heartbreaking loss following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Ma’Davion N. Smalls on Thursday night. His sudden death has left family, friends, and neighbors in deep sorrow as they struggle to come to terms with a life taken far too soon.
According to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, officers responded to the area of Midland Parkway after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a vehicle. When authorities arrived, they found Ma’Davion in the backseat of a car suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:37 p.m.
Investigators later determined that the shooting had occurred earlier at John McKissick Stadium. Police located the vehicle during a traffic stop in the Midland Parkway area, where the victim was discovered. Authorities say a juvenile suspect has been taken into custody. During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to possessing a 9mm handgun and firing into the backseat where Ma’Davion was seated. A witness in the front passenger seat also confirmed the account, according to police.

Additional charges include possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession and transfer of a handgun, and possession of a stolen firearm.
