Harry Washington killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Indian Head, Child Fighting for Life

INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A devastating hit-and-run crash has claimed the life of one man and left a child critically injured, sending waves of grief through the Indian Head community. The tragic incident unfolded Sunday evening, leaving families shaken and authorities working to uncover what led to the deadly collision.

According to officials, the crash occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. near the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Jenkins Lane. Investigators say a vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying Harry Washington and a child. The force of the crash caused severe injuries to both victims, prompting a swift emergency response.

First responders arrived quickly and provided life-saving aid at the scene before transporting both victims to nearby hospitals. Harry Washington was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where doctors worked to stabilize him. Despite their efforts, he later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

The child, who was also riding on the motorcycle, was rushed to Children’s National Hospital. Authorities say the child remains in critical condition, fighting for survival as medical teams continue intensive treatment. Maryland State Police, including the Aviation Command, assisted in the emergency response by helping transport victims quickly.
